STUDIES AND REACTIONS OF SOME CYCLIC COMPOUNDS

Abstract
Reaction of 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-oxo-2-butenoic acid with antipyrin gave the adduct 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-oxo-2-(antipyrin-4-yl) butanoic acid.
Cyclocondensation of the adduct with hydrazine hydrate and phenylhydrazine on boiling ethanol yielded the pyridazinone derivatives while the reaction of the adduct with phenylhydrazine on cold yielded the phenylhydrazone derivative.
Behaviour of the resulting pyridazinone towards bromine I acetic acid mixture and phosphorus pentasulfide has been studied.
Surprisingly, when the reaction of the pyridazinone derivative with POCh was carried out for 3 hours unexpected product 6-(3,4-dichloro phenyl)-3-chloropyridazine via dearylation and substitution of the hydroxyl group with chlorine has been obtained.
Hitherto unknown reactions of the chloropyridazine with 2-amino-
3-carbethoxy-4,5-dimethylthiophene and 2-amino-3-carbethoxy tetra hydrobenzothiophene to afford new compounds containing three and four fused rings have now been discovered.
Also the reactions of the chloropyridazine with hydrazine hydrate, sodium azide, anthranilic acid and thiourea have been described.
Several proposed mechanisms had been discussed the structure of new compounds have been confirmed by different spectroscopic methods.
