STUDY OF RESULTS OF CEMENTED AND NON CEMENTED PROSTHETIC REPLACEMENT IN THE TREATMENT OF FR ACTURE NECK FEMUR

Abstract


The material of this work consisted of 104 patients who presented with femoral neck practures. They were admitted to the Orthopaedic department of Assiut University Hospital from April 1995 to March 1998. They were examined clinically and radiologically and subsequently treated by hemiarthroplasty. Thirteen patients (12.5%) were treated by cemented Thompson prosthesis and ninety one patients (87.5%) were treated by Austin Moore endoprothesis through direct lateral approach to the hip joint. Three cases only (2.8%) were failed osteosynthesis-failed sliding nail & plate fixation, failed D.H.S. and failed cancellous screws fixation and one hundered and one cases (97.2%) were recent fractures. All of the patients have been followed-up for a period ranged from sixth to twinty four months
