COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN THE CLOSED METHOD VERSUS SEMI-CLOSED ' METHOD AFTER ENBLOCK EXCISION OF PILONIDAL SINUS
Emad Sobhi Tawfik;
Abstract
The results obtained from the present study on 8 0 patients with chronic symptomatic primary sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus revealed certain facts about the disease.
Patients were divided into two groups; each one was formed of 40 patients. Group I were treated by semiclosed method using Obied technique which was described by Obied S.A.F. in 1988. group II were treated by excision with primary closure and drainage (closed method).
The disease was found to affect individuals after puberty. The maximum incidence was present in the age group of 20-<30 years with a rapid and continuous decline after that age until the age of 40 years, after which the disease was rare.
