Abstract


he current study was conducted at bronchoscopy unit in Ain Shams university hospitals and National institute for chest diseases and asthma to study the lung cancer presentations and sites in Fiberoptic bronchoscopy in lung cancer on 36 patients either admitted to chest department or from chest outpatient clinic provided that there is no contraindication for fiber optic bronchoscopy.
Patients underwent Full history taking with special emphasize on smoking history including smoking index (pack/year), thorough clinical examination including both general &local examination of the chest, radiological examination including plain chest x-ray posteroanterior view, Computed Tomography of the chest& Laboratory investigations as INR, hemoglobin level.
All patients were subjected to Fiberoptic bronchoscopy (F.O.B) including: preparations, premeditations procedure itself and sampling either (biopsy, bronchial lavage,) & Histopathological examination of the specimen.
This study include 36 patients with primary lung cancer, they were 33 male patients representing 91.67% and 3 female patients representing 8.33%. Their ages ranging from 34 to 86 with mean age was 59.417 years old (±10.516 SD).
31 patients 86.11 % were smokers and 5 non smokers patients 13.89%.
