Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine the Chinese American experience as presented by Amy Tan in her fiction. It is quite obvious that Amy Tan's writing and narrative technique reflect the Chinese American experience. Just as the Chinese American experience manifests the problem of living m a between-worlds condition that ends in understanding and reconciliation, it is obviously the determining factor in the structural pattern of each of Tan's novels.
