Abstract
The rapid evolution of information technology (IT) is having a greater impact on clinical radiology than on any other medical specialty so a solution to the limitation that standard film places on radiology had to be thought of, to increase the diagnostic value of images and overcome the bottleneck of screen-film technology which lacks wide dynamic range, post processing capabilities, multiple viewing options, archiving and easy retrieval together with all the benefits that come with digital systems.
