Abstract


A patient who undergoes a shunt procedure has a future life threatened by numerous complications and repeated operations. These
. dangers justify attempting procedures that render the p"atient shunt

independent, therefore, endoscopic third ventriculostomy should. be seriously considered in the treatment of non-communicating
hydrocephalus.



Endoscopic third ventriculostomy was performed in 50 patients

m the Departments of Neurological Surgery of both Cairo and

Mansoura University Hospitals from January 2001 till April 2003.
