Marwah Mohammed Kamal El-Din;

Abstract

Petrified palm petioles (Palmocaulon) are reported here for the first time from Egypt. Petrified palm trunks (Palmox ylon) representing 13 species of Oligocene-Miocene age are reported from 7 localities in the Egyptian deserts. Two of
the species were recorded earlier from Egypt, seven are
new to Egypt, and four are new to science. Comparisons are made and affinities discussed .
