Developing the Composition Writing Skills through adopting the Whole Language approach for the prep stage experimental schools pupils

Amel Said Mohammed Aly;

Abstract

This study exammes the effectiveness of some techniques and activities for developing the students' writing skills through adopting the whole language principles.

Previous researchers approved that the Egyptian students face some writing problems, those problems might hinder their ability to express themselves freely.
The students' inability to write a composition for achieving communication may be due to some factors such as :
1- The large numbered classes in the government school system that

make it difficult for the students and the teacher to communicate effec?vdy.
2- Ineffi i-ent teaching strategies that are followed by English

language- teachers in teaching composition , therefore, the student is just a• recipient as s/he doesn't take part in any activity for achieving the desired goals .

Writing plays an important role in the communication process, so the linguists suggest some strategies combined with analysis of the problem.
Among _these suggestions are writer's workshop, having each student

keep his/her portfolio, allowing for frequent teacher

conferences and more self-assessment processes,

student
