SOME ANATOMICAL STUDIES ON THE CEREBRAL MENINGES OF THE BUFFALO ( BOS BUBALIS)

Abstract


The present investigation was carried out on sixteen heads and necks of healthy buffaloes of different ages and sexes . Thirteen heads and necks were used for gross anatomical studies ofthe meningeal covering of the brain, one head is used for Computed tomography scanning and two heads were used for hitological study of the encephalic meninges .



The specimens for the anatomical studies were treated by ordinary routine Preservation technique . They were carefully dissected for studying the different layers of the meninges ( Dura mater , Arachnoid and Pia mater ) . The morphological structure of these layers were studies


• The arterial blood supply of the cranial menmges is studied by careful dissection . The origin ,course and the distribution of the different arteries supplying the meninges were described in detail .



Casting of the sinuses were fmmed by injecting the veins , freezing and maceration tissues and the obtained cast was cleaned .


Photographs for the different structures, and arteries as well as casts of the sinuses and CT scanning were plotted.
