URANIUM MIN.ERALIZATION ASSOCIATED WITH COPPER OCCURRENCES IN SINAI, EGYPT
Mohamed Abu Bakr Abu Bakr Ibrahim;
Abstract
The uranium mineralization accompanied the copper mineralization in Sinai Peninsula was the target of the present study. Some of the exposed Paleozoic sedimentary rocks in west central Sinai exhibit anomalous. field radioactivity and copper mineralization. They were investigated for their uranium mineralization. These sediments belong to Urn Bogma and Abu Hamata Fonnations. Also, the anomalous radioactive basement rocks which contain copper mineralization at El Regeita and El Rasis areas were studied to separate and identify their uranium minerals.
The outcropped sedimentary rocks of Um Bob1Jlla and Abu Hamata Formations at west central Sinai were subjected to sampling. The highly radioactive spots of the exposed sediment of the two formations were covered by 33 sample (Table, 56). The radioactive sediments ofUm Bogma Formation exposed at Allouga and Abu Thor areas were covered by 11 samples, 9 samples were taken from Allouga area and 2 samples from Abu Thor area.
