Assessment of Technologically Enhanced Pollutants Concentration in Egyptian Natural Gas

Omyma Riad Megahid;

Abstract

This chapter presents and describes the samples collected from different facilities used in natural gas and oil industries and the measuring procedures used to determine the specific concentration of NORM in the investigated samples. The NORM concentration was determined through the measurement of gamma emitted from the radioactive nuclides in the sample using a gamma spectrometer with HPGe detector. The measured gamma spectrum was analysed to determine the gamma energy lines correspond to the radionuclides from which they are emitted and also to determine the specific concentrations of these radionuclides. The health hazards and risk assessments were also determined and discussed.
