Abstract

Rabbit production has potential in many developing countries as a mean of supplying cheap high quality animal protein within the shortest possible time using diets based mainly of forages.

In Egypt, in general, there is a great shortage in animal feedstuffs particularly during summer season and early outumn.

Green fed alone was not sufticient to produce suitable live weight gain etliciency of teed conversion Kirton, eta/. (1971). Feeding rabbits on green fooder together with small quantities of concentrates 1s a successful practice in commercial rabbit production. The green stutl' may provide essential food constituents required for growth and health, but they are bulky and young rabbits could not consume enough of them to maintain their energy requirements. Theretor, it is preferable to supplement them concentrates. Touny, ( 1960)

This study was conducted to investigate the etl'ects of feeding growing New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits on different levels of concentrates with kikuyu grass or sweet sorghum ad-libtum and to decreasing feed cost.
