heumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory auto immune disease that affects articular as well as extra articular structures. It is characterized by an array of immune events with resultant production of inflammatory mediators that if untreated will result in tissue damage and joint deformities (Stavropoulos-kalinoglou et al., 2011).
