Histopathological and Immunohistochemical Study of Angiogenesis in Normal, Hyperplastic and Neoplastic Endometrium
Ahmad AbdEl-Sttar;
Abstract
The present work was done on 50 cases of endometrial biopsies (l0 proliferative, 10 secretory, 20 endometrial hyperplasia and 10 endometrial carcinoma) received by the Pathology Department of Assuit University Hospital during the period from Oct. 1998. To March 2001.
All specimens were subjected to H & E stain, immunostaining with factor VIII- related antigen polyclonal rabbit primary antibody for visualization and counting of microvessels.
The mean age of cases of proliferative and secretory endometrium
was 21.90 ys. and 25 ys. respectively.
The overall angiogenic count in cases of proliferative endometrium ranged from 21.33-71.67 with a mean of 43.46 with increasing the microvessels count from early to late proliferative endometrium. It was found that there is a moderate significance difference (P=O.OOl) between the cases of proliferative e!l.dometrium.
The overall angiogenic count in cases of secretory endometrium
ranged from 21.33-57.00 with a mean of 27.26 with increasing the microvessels count from early to mid to late secretory endometrium.
There is a moderate significance difference between the different phases of secretory endometrium
The mean age of cases of endometrial hyperplasia 59.50 ys. The
overall angiogenic count in endometrial hyperplasia ranged from 29.33-
84.33 with a mean of 51.26.
The mean microvessels count m cases of simple, complex and atypical hyperplasia was 39.36, 60.00, 65.8, respectively. The correlation between the different types of endometrial hyperplasia and microvessls count was highly significance (P=O.OOO).
