Clinical and Radiographic evaluation of Implants Supporting Mandibular Overdentures Using Two Different Occlusal Schemes

Mohammed Metwally Mohammed;

Abstract

This study was carried out on ten implant supported
mandibular overdentures divided into two groups " five dentures
each".
Bilateral balanced occlusion was selected with cuspid
teeth used for the dentures of one group of the patients and with
flat teeth used for the dentures of the other group.
For every patient two implants were inserted in the
mandibular canine areas to support the mandibular overdentuers
using the submerged implant system.
The osseointegrated implants were evaluated clinically and
radiographically using the direct digital radiography " Digora
system " for the densitometric and lineal analysis of the alveolar
bone mesial and distal to every osseointegrated implant , the
measurements for each group of patients were done at the time of
implant loading, three months, six months and one year after
loading.
For every case the vector of the four measurements ( one
measurement for each side of every implant) is calculated .
The means , t-test values and standard deviation for the
vectors of the readings of the overdentures of each group were
calculated for both the densitometric and lineal analysis separately.
By comparing the results of the densitometric and lineal
analysis for the cases with the cuspid teeth occlusion according
