Time course of carbamazeplne In rats hair and the relationshiP between serum andhair levels

Abstract

Hair analysis has been the subject of increasing interest in the studies of clinical pharmacology and forensic toxicology. Drugs taken either therapeutically or illicitly can be incorporated into the hair and are retained there in proportion to the dose. Hair analysis for drugs provides long-term information on individual drug use over much longer periods than urine analysis. As hair grows at a reasonably constant rate( 1.3 em/month) the drug retained within its structure offers the potential of using this matrix as a material for monitoring compliance for both therapeutic and illicit drugs.
