Alaa Eldeen Mohamed Khalifa;
Abstract
Radiographic assessment plays a critical role in management of pituitary tumours. Resectability and optimal surgical approach depending on the proper radiological assessment. The aim of this work is to emphasize the role of MRI in the diagnosis of pituitary tumours.
During a period of 24 months, the study was carried on
87 patients 49 were males and 38 were females. Their ages ranged between 3-60 years. All the patients were subjected to MRI examination, the MRI manifestations including the site, size, relation to the adjacent structures, various signal intenstities. (TJ weighted images, T2 weighted images and proton density). Presence of calcification and the pattern of GD. DTPA enhancement are collected and tabulated .. Comparison with CT diagnosis was performed in most cases. The MRI diagnosis was correlated with the surgical and pathological results.
