NITROGEN NUTRITION OF FIELD CROPS GROWN IN SANDY SOILS

Khalid Ali Fahmy Rabie;

Abstract

In the present work, pot and field experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of the material and grain size (coarse > 2 mm, fine < 2 mm) of some N fertilizers as well as the nitrification inhibitor nitrapyrin (N-Serve) on plant growth, nutrient uptake, fertilizer N recovery and final yield of wheat and maize plants. The effect of N fertilizer material and its grain size on the concentration of diiierent mineral N forms in soil percolate was also studied in a separate pot experiment.
