Validity of CAD-CAM Technology on Accuracy of Removable Partial Denture Framework (In vitro study)
Tarek Mohamed AL Sayed El Saedi;
Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and adaptation of a milled partial denture framework and compare it to the framework made by lost wax technique.
Educational maxillary model with missing second premolar and first molar bilaterally was used for this study. After rest seats and beading were done a silicone index was made to be used for the production of fourteen identical casts for the two groups. Scanning of the cast and designing of each component of the framework was done using 3shape software to produce STL file .The STL file was sent to the milling center to produce the framework.
In the first group ,the STL file was used to mill the design in the form of castable resin ,which was sprued and flasked and by lost wax technique converted to BioHPP by lost wax technique. In the second group, the STL file was used to mill the design in the form of BioHPP directly. These steps was repeated to produce fourteen frameworks, seven in each group.
