Abstract

Purpose: Detection the relationship between cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis(MS) patients and lesion load in magnetic resonant imaging (MRI).
Methods: A 50 patients diagnosed as MS both relapsing remitting(RR) and secondary progressive(SP) types.Cognition is measured by using symbol digit modalities test (SDMT).Leasion load is measured in MRI flair films using MRI cro program. Screening for depression using Beck depression inventory.
Results: cognitive impairement was found in 28% of patients . EDSS of76% of our patients ranged between (1_4.5) while 24% 0f our patients their EDSS ranged between (5_9.5). Depression was present in 62% of our patients.
Conclusion: A significant relation was found between cognitive impairement in MS patients and their lesion load in MRI.
