Abstract
The possibility to treat cardiac and thoracic diseases by tissue engineering is an extraordinary promise.
Tissue engineering seems to represent an appropriate future option, reconstruction of heart valves, myocardial tissue, trachea, chest wall and diaphragm.
However currently tissue engineering is expensive not easily available and affiliated with a remarkable delay therefore away from daily clinical routine.
