CHEMISTRY OF PHENOLIC . CONSTITUENTS OF SOME EGYPTIAN FOLKMEDICINAL PLANTS
SAYED ABDEL HAMID AHMED;
Abstract
[n accordance with the recent world-wide interest in natural phenolics, which emerged from their broad range of biological activities, particular emphasis has been focused in the present thesis, on constitutive phenolics of an aqueous.ethanolic extract derived from the Egyptian folk medicinal phmt Tamarix tetragyna (Tamaricaceae), with the aim of isolation and complete stmcture elucidation of some of these plants metabolites.
To achieve this maJor task, a comprehensive phytochemical study of extract derived from the flowers of this topic plant was carried out
-4
\
This phytochemical study included successtve column chromatographic fractionation and separation of individual phenolics, repeated purification of these individuals and establishment of their homogenities by paper, thin layer and high perfonnance liquid chromatography.
