Manal A. Halim;
Abstract
Renal transplant recipients are at risk of serious morbidity due to many pathogens, as CMV. 31 renal transplant recipients and I 0 control cases were subject of this study. Serological testing for anti CMV IgG and M, culture of the virus and PCR were performed. 9.6% were found positive for CMV as revealed by culture followed by immunofluorescence as well as by PCR. We concluded that the combination of tissue culture follo"•ed by I.F. with PCR was the best method for diagnosis of active CMV.
