Studying Nuclear Reactions of Nucleon and Nucleus with Different Halo Nuclei
Hisham Hosny Hussein Ibrahim;
Abstract
In the framework of the Glauber optical limit approximation (OLA), the elastic differential cross section for scattering of halo nuclei with 12C at 800 MeV/N has been calculated. Its sensitivity to the halo density and consequently to the ratio between the root mean square radii of both the core and the halo is the main goal of the current study. The projectile nuclei are taken to be one-neutron halo (1NH) and two-neutron halo (2NH). The calculations are carried out for Gaussian–Gaussian (ρ^GG), Gaussian–Oscillator (ρ^GO) and Gaussian–2s (ρ^G2s) densities for each considered projectile in the mass number range 6 – 29. The zero range approximation is considered in the calculations. It is found that the sensitivity of elastic differential cross section to the halo density is clear if the nucleus seems to consist of two clear different clusters, core and halo.
Also, the elastic differential cross sections (dσ⁄(dq^2 )) for protons incident on halo nuclei are studied. The results are displayed at the intermediate energies for the incident protons. The target nuclei are taken to be one–neutron halo (1NH) and two–neutron halo (2NH). The calculations are carried with the same aforementioned densities for the targets. An analytic expression for the phase shift function (χ_OLA^i; i≡GG,GO,G2s) is derived. Also, the in – medium and free-medium effects are considered and their results are compared with each other for the three considered densities. The obtained results are analyzed and compared with the available experimental data.
In addition, the reaction cross section for the collision of halo nuclei with stable ones at intermediate energies in the framework of OLA is studied. The projectile nuclei are taken to be one-neutron (1NH) and two-neutron halo (2NH). The calculations are carried out taking into account ρ^GG, ρ^GOand ρ^G2sfor each considered projectile. As targets, the stable nuclei in the mass number range 4 – 28 are used. An analytic expression for the phase shift function is derived. The zero range approximation is considered in the calculations. Also, the in-medium effect is considered. The obtained results are analyzed and compared with the available experimental data.
