Endovascular Treatment Modalities Of Cerebrovascular Disorders Of The Brain
AHMED FAISAL TOUBAR;
Abstract
There are two pairs of large arteries in the cranial cavity supplying the brain .
1- The internal carotid artery.
2- The vertebral arteries.
The internal carotid artery (ICA) is formed from the division of common carotid artery (CCA) which on the Rt side arises from the innominate artery and on the left side arises from the arch of the aorta
The vertebral arteries originate as the first branch of the subclavian artery on each side, they pierce the atlanto-occipital membrane and dura
and enters the
posterior fossa through the foramen magnum (Fig. 1) (Carpenter, 1983) .
