OPTIMUMPOSITIONOF OUTRIGGER SYSTEMFOR HIGH-RISE REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDINGS UNDERLATERAL LOADS
Mohamed EssamMohamed Sayed;
Abstract
In this research we study the behavior of outrigger in braced tall building structures. Also, we take into account the flexibility of the outriggers. Results are developed for the top drift and the optimum location of the outriggers for minimum top drift. A characteristic non-dimensional parameter is developed that takes into account the core, columns and outrigger effective inertia. Graphs are plotted as functions of the characteristic parameter, which allow the determination of the optimum outrigger levels for minimum drift. The study is based on the assumption of a uniform structure and triangularly distributed loading due to earthquake and wind loading for multy story buildings 30 floors by 3 methods: equivalent static method, response spectra method and time history method. Also the response spectra method for 40 floor and 50 floor respectively. In two cases, case one outrigger structural only and outrigger structural with belt truss for case two.
