Abstract
Aimingtobetterunderstandingofworkspacesdesignanditslinktousers’behaviorinsidethesespaces,thisthesisfocusedontherelationofworkspacespatialaspectsandthecommunicationprocessbetweentheemployees.Despitetherearealotofstudiesaddressedimprovingthedesignofofficeworkspaces,buttherearenorigorresultsthatcouldbeimplementedtoimprovethecommunicationaspectsoftheusers.Thethesisreviewedthepreviousliteratureindepththenfollowedwiththeappliedfieldstudy.ThreeofficebuildinginCairohavebeenexamined.Spatialfactorsi.e.(proximity,accessibility,visibility,andenclosure)havebeeninvestigatedtofindtheirrelationtocommunicationfactors
i.e. (tools,rates,privacy,distraction,andnetwork).SpacesyntaxanalysishasbeenconductedinadditiontoSocialNetworkAnalysisandstatisticalanalysis.Manyessentialresultshavebeenfound,sothestudysuggesteddesignimplicationsfromthefindings.Additionallythestudyrecommendedimportanttopicsforthefutureresearch.
