Alaa Samir Abd El-Malek;

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major global health problem and is the most challenging problem in today's world. It is a complex disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, metabolic abnormalities, and long-term macro- and micro-vascular complications.
A large proportion of patients with Type 2 DM suffer from preventable vascular complications. There is a need to develop risk factor modification interventions to reduce the impact of long-term complications.
