Abstract


to explore the effectiveness & the safety of the misoprostol in labo-r
100 wbmen with full term & post term pregnancy, received 50 mg •. misoprostol p-l-ac-ed in the posterior vaginal fornix repeated after 4 hours if Bishop score_::: 4 for maximum of 4 doses or until labor was established .
90% of cases delivered vaginally, the mean induction delivery interval was (9.66+ 4.04hs), active labor occurred in 70% of them & only 30% needed oxytocin augmentation . Maternal complications were minimal
mainly intrapartum tachysystole (12%) .All new born had Apgar score 6-9 at I st & s'h minute .
misoprostol is an effective drug for inducing labor & the use of lower doses d crease the incidence of maternal & fetal complications.
