Value of Creatinine-Cystatin C Based Equation for Estimation of Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) in Relation to Renal Pathology
Ahmed Abdelmoniem Abdelmageed Emara;
Abstract
Our cross sectional study on 29 adult CKD patients addressed the possible relation of tubulointerstitial changes in renal histopathology and the performance of eGFR equations using creatinine, cystatin and combined creatinine-cystatin based equations.
We have the advantage of using Iohexol plasma clearance as gold standard of mGFR for proper assessment of bias & precision of eGFR equation used in the study. We used a 6 plasma samples protocol for each patient after dye injection, with the last sample drawn at 24 h to reduce the bias of delayed excretion in CKD patients.
Another advantage of using UPLC (a special version of the conventional HPLC) to detect Iohexol concentration in serum. Then plasma clearances
