Evaluation of some Serodiagnostic ) Techniques in Toxocariasis
Mai Khalil Assaker;
Abstract
Toxocariasis is infection of human viscera by migrating larvae of Toxocara species, especially Toxocara canis through extra-intestinal tissues. They can invade almost any tissue but more commonly associated with ocular, neurological, pulmonary and hepatic diseases.
The clinical syndromes of visceral larva migrans (VLM) are, therefore, diverse and of varying severity, but most infections are considered to be subclinical (covert toxocariasis).
VLM is a common disease of children and should be raised when encountering a young child with leucocytosis and eosinophilia accompanied by hepatomegaly, fever (FUO) and wheezing.
