EARLY DETECTION OF CMV INFECTION IN IMMUNOCOMPROMISED CANCER PATIENTS WITH HAEMATOLOGIC MALIGNANCIES

Abstract
This study was in patient sector of medical oncolcogy department conducted on 54 patients with acute leukemia at notional cancer institute, Cairo University. They were diagnosed as 30 AML cases (56%) and 24 All cases (44%) their ages ranged form 17- 65 years with a median of 26 years, thirty four were males (63%) and twenty were females (37%). The male to female ratio was 1.7 : I. All lour patients were selected as leaving magnification of infection; fever over 38°C.
Clinically 27.8% of our patients complained of lower respiratory tract infection. Liver enlargement was detected in 51.9% and splenomegaly in 57.4% of patients
