Abstract


A group of 15 males suffering from delayed puberty were included in the study, their mean age was 16.5±2.74 years with a main complaint of delayed puberty. Ten normal boys were established as controls. The controls were divided into 2 groups:-
!. Group A : Included 5 boys in the first stage of puberty

(Tanner 1). Their ages ranged from 10-10.3 years, their mean age was 10.18±0.1 years.
2. Group B: Included 5 boys in the early pubertal (Tanner

2&3) stage. Their ages ranged from 11 to 11.4 years with a mean of 11.8 ± 0.16 years.
All were subjected to detailed history, clinical examination,

pubertal staging, auxological measurements (height , weight, upper to lower segment ratio, span, SDS of height and SDS of weight for height), estimation of skeletal maturation and hormonal profile including T4 and TSH. Triptorelin test was performed and.plasma LH, FSH and testosterone were measured before and 4 hours after injection of triptorelin 0.1 mg/m2 surface area.
