HARMONIC EFFECTS ON OPERATION AND CONTROL OF LINE COMMUTATED PHASE CONTROLLED CONVERTERS
Mohamed Mohamed Hashim;
Abstract
The problem of harmonic generation in a three phase fully controlled converters was carefully examined for balanced system. Unbalanced supplies were not given such a concern although many papers have been published on this subject. Most of previous contributions assume that the output de current is pure direct current. This Thesis excecludes this unrealistic assumption. The current waveform is considered as unknown and the converter
bridge was analyzed to get its true shape. A software program, in TURBO PASCAL, was developed to simulate and analyze the converter under unbalanced conditions. The program was examined for
balanced supply to confirm its validity. Then it was used to investigate almost all probable cases to study the effects of unbalanced supply on the performance of the converter bridge rectifier.
