Amira Helmy Hassan Mostafa El-Gendy;

Abstract

A
cne vulgaris is a common disorder of the pilosebaceous follicles that affects the skin of the face, neck, upper part of the trunk, and back. Non-inflammatory and inflammatory acne lesions consist of open and/or closed comedones, papules, pustules, and nodules (Williams et al., 2012).
Many factors have been proposed that may underlie the pathogenesis of acne, including hormonal influences, follicular plugs and follicular hyperkeratinization, increased levels of sebum secretion, Propionibacterium acnes (P.acnes) colonization, and inflammation (Krishna et al., 2011; Melnik 2012; Melnik and Zouboulis, 2013).
Vitamin D, is a hot topic that attracted ample attention over the past decades. It was primarily acknowledged for its importance in bone formation, however; increasing evidence point to its interference with the proper function of nearly every tissue in our bodies. Thereby its deficiency has been incriminated in a long panel of diseases. Its involvement in the pathogenesis of different dermatological diseases has been the subject of much research over the recent years (Mostafa and Hegazy, 2015).
