NUTRITIVE STUDIES ON SOME OF THE WORKER IN MENOUFIA BAKERIES

Abstract


The imponance of nutrition throughout the life cycle seems fairly obvious. After all, we must eat to live. However, the significance of nutrition at specific times of growth, development, and aging is becoming increasingly appreciated.

So this work was carried out to study the socioeconomic factors of bakery workers, monitoring nutritional assessment by using anthropometric measurements and physical symptoms, determine the prevalence of disease and malnutrition features among workers studied and study the effect of education level on the nutritional status of workers.

A random sample of 200 bakery males and females worker were selected from Menoufia Governorate as following. About 86 of bakery (59 males and 27 females) worker were chosen from urban area, and 114 (59 males and 27 females) from rural area. There age were ranged from 22.5 to 33.0 years.

The Nutritional status was assessed using a set of anthropometric measurements, determining nutritional elements of the 24 hr recall of dietary intake and eating pattern.

Nutrient values were calculated from standard tables ( food composition tables for use in the middle east, 1970 and nutrition food composition tables in Cairo,1985 and
1996).


The results showed that the majority of males in urban and rural (64.4% and

60.9%) respectively were married, while most of females in urban (70.4%) compared with (46.7%) in rural were single. On the other hand, there were a considerable percentage of males in urban and rural (35.6% and 39.1%) respectively were .single.
