EVALUATION OF DIFFERNT TREATMENT PROTOCOLS FOR MATUROGENSIS OF IMMATURE NON VITAL TEETH WITH APICAL PERIODONTITIS IN DOGS’ TEETH

Abstract

The development of tissue engineering and regeneration in endodontics allowed the researchers to design and manufacture a new tissue replacing the lost or injured ones. The dream of continuation of development and growth of immature non vital roots with apical periodontitis came true via regenerative endodontics. The study aimed to evaluate and compare different treatment protocols for management of immature non-vital dogs’ teeth with apical periodontitis by using; Apexification by MTA, Conventional method (Induction of bleeding in the root canal), Regenerative approach divided into: Chitosan plus Demineralized Bone Matrix (DBM) and Chitosan plus Corticosteroids.
A total of healthy nine mixed mongrel dogs aged approximately four to six months were selected for this study. A total of one hundred and forty four teeth (upper and lower premolars) having immature roots were included in the study. Teeth were divided into six main groups; each group consists of twenty four teeth receiving different methods of treatment. Eight teeth were studied histologically after each treatment interval (1week, one month and 3months) by sacrificing dogs for post-treatment evaluation as follows:
• MTA Group: Apexification using MTA.
