EVALUATION OF POST RENAL TRANSPLANT PROTEINURIA
AYMAN FATHIREFAIE IBRAHEIM;
Abstract
The present work was designed to evaluate the post renal transplant proteinuria regarding risk factors for its development and its impact on graft outcome, patient morbidity and survival.
This study comprised 156 kidney transplant recipients who received their grafts between January1993 and December, 1995 and followed up till May 1996.
Among these recipients , 57 patients ( 36.5%) showed significant and persistent proteinuria, while the remaining 63.5% had intermittent or no proteinuria.
On comparing both groups ( proteinurics versus non
proteinurics ) the followings were concluded :
1- Post renal transplant proteinuria represents 35.6% of kidney
: transplant recipients.
2- Pattern of post transplant proteinuria is as follows :
a- < 1 gm I day : 43.9 %
b-1- 3.5 gm/ day: 43.9%
c- Nephrotic range proteinuria : 12.2 %
