Abstract
This research was designed to evaluate the new application of a modern ceramic material in partial coverage retainers in three units fixed - fixed bridge compared to conventional full coverage retainers.
The bridges constmcted in this study were evaluated through the following procedures:
1. Fracture load testing.
2. Determination of the area and mode of fracture.
3. Scanning electron microscopic study of the fracture area.
Forty Inceram bridges were constmcted. These forty bridges were divided into eight groups as follows:
1. Group 1: Full coverage retainer on maxillary canine, full coverage retainer on maxillary second premolar, anatomical pontic, and full veneered bridge (V1R1P1).
2. Group II: Partial coverage retainer on maxillary canine. full coverage retainer on maxillary second premolar, anatomical pontic, and full veneered bridge (V1 R2P1).
3. Group III: Full coverage retainers on maxillary canine, full coverage retainer on maxillary second premolar, non-anatomical pontic, and full veneered bridge (V 1R 1P2 ).
