PROGNOSTIC AND PREDICTIVE VALUE OF POSTERIOR CHEST LEADS IN ACUTE INFERIOR MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Abstract


This work was done to study posterior chest Leads (V7-Y9) to asses their role in patient with acute MI. and their prognostic value.

30 patients admitted to ccu for diagnosis and treatment or suspected inferior MI, patients included in this study were subjected to history taking, clinical examination, 12-standard ECG, posterior chest leads (V7, V8, V9 were placed at the 5 111 intercostal space at left posterior axiallary, mid-scapular lines and paraspinal line, consequently). CPK
determination, echocardiography and angiographic assessment, follow up during hospital course as a regard development of complication as heart failure angina or dysarrhythmia

We classified patients into two groups:


Group (A): patient diagnosed as inferior myocardial infarction with

STE in posterior chest leads.


Group (B): patients diagnosed as inferior myocardial infarction without STE in posterior chest leads.

The result of this study can be summarized as follow:


• In-group (A) there were II patients with STE in posterior chest leacls

• In-group (B) there were 19 patients with inferior MI

without EST in PCL.


• Age were older in patients with inferior infarction and positive posterior leads
