Abstract


It was found that all menstmal disturbances have a high prevalence among adolescents and that the majority of these disturbances are functional in nature and related to an immature feed back mechanism between the ovary and hypothalamic pituitary system. Many cases were
ugg sted tp explain the high prevalence of abnonnal uterine bleeding


(including amenorrhea) and dysmenorrhea in adolescents, but the correlation between the physical development of adolescent girls and these clinical conditions is still to be assessed.
The aim "of this work was to study the relation between menstrual


irregularities and dystmenorrhea in adolescents girls with their phys.ical

development, senun levels of FSI-1, LI-1 and estradiol and pelvic


sonogram.





The sub_iects of this study consisted of 60 cases divided into four groups recruited fTOm the outpatient clinic of Shatby Matemity University i"-lospital of Alexandria:
Group A: 15 females complaining of dysmenorrhea.


Group B: IS females complaining of DUB.


Group C: 10 females complaining of amenonhea (I ry or 2ry).


Group D: 20 females with normal cycles.
