The Postharvest Behavior of Alphonse Mango Fruits Responded to Natural Preharvest Treatments

Abstract


The present study was undertaken on mango fruits of
Alphonse cv., dw•ing the two consecutive seasons of 2002 and
2003. Fifty four fruitful trees of about 20 years old were selected for this study, these trees were grown in the farm of El-Kanater Horticultural Research Station, Kal yubeia Governorate, Egypt. This work aimed mainly to investigate the effect of different preharvest treatments of the trees and .two types of fruit

packaging under both cold .storage (at 8 c and RH 85%) and ambient temperature (28 ± 2 c with RH 65%)

The treatments used in this study were as follows : - l - Effect of som preharvest treatments :
(a) Mineral fertilizers at two rates ( 100% and 50%).

(b) yeast treatments as biofertilizers were used as foliar sprays
(0.2% and 0.4%) and soil application (2o/o and 4%) .

(c) Crop Max as biofertilizers were sprayed at two concentrations (0.1% and 0.2%)
(d) Compost El - Neel was added as organic manure at rate
25 Kg/trees. Trees were treated with these combined treatments at fixed timing during March, April and May for each season.
2 - Effect of some postharvest treatments :

(a) Individual seal package with ceran film

(b) Fruit without package.
