SOURCE•DETECTOR GEOMETRICAL FACTOR
Mahmoud Ibrahim Abbas;
Abstract
In the fields of radiation measurement and dosimetry, knowledge of the fraction of source radiation which is incident on a detector, which is known as geometrical factor (or efficiency) is very important in th!.-' determination of the detection efficiency.
The determination of the geometrical efficiency value requires the knowledge of the solid angle subtended at an isotropic radiating source by a detector.
Several scientists treated the problem of determining directly the solid angle only in limited cases (e.g. the isotropic radiating point source lies on and off the axis of the circular disk detector).
On the other hand, in this thesis we shall introduce analytical expressions required for the determination of the solid angle in which the sources and detectors have different shapes (point, plane and volumatic).
