Study of Vitamin D3 Supplementationon Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral Bone Disease (CKD-MBD) Parameters in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3

Abstract

This study was designed to Determine the effect of supplementation of oral cholecalceferol on Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral Bone Disease (CKD-MBD) Parameters ( iPTH concentrations ,calcium ,phosphorus , alkaline phosphtase ,and calcium phosphorus product ) in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3. The present study included 30 patients with chronic kidney disease stage 3 : Their ages ranged between 18 and 70 year andwith mean age was 63.03 ± 8.53 year ,male represented 70% (n=21 out of 30 ), while female represented 30% (n =9 out of 30 ). All patients were subjected to full history taking , clinical examination, Routine investigations ( CBC , ESR , and CRP ,Urea, Creatinine , e GFR , and Complete urine analysis , with emphasis on abnormal findings , active sediment ,Protein / creatinine ratio ,serum Na, and serum K) and Specific investingations (Serum calcium ,Serum phosphorus ,Calcium – phosphorus product (Ca x PO4) , Serum albumin , Serum Alkaline phosphatase and Intact Parathyroid hormone level).
