lmmunomodulatorv Effect Of Phototherapy In Atopic Dermatitis

Enas Attia Saad El-Din Attia;

Abstract

The immunopathogenic mechanisms of AD have been outlined in the last decade in order to focus on selective modalities of immune intervention therapy particularly for patients who are resistant to conventional therapy.
IL-2 plays a key role in immune mechanisms of AD
by being a growth factor for both T and B cells and by regulation of IgE production through mutual interaction with IL-4 and IFN-y.
UV light therapy is known to be effective in the
treatment of chronic recalcitrant AD because it. has anti inflammatory , antibacterial , and immunomodulatory effects . Tremendous advances have been made in understanding the immunomodulatory effect of phototherapy in AD.
