Abstract

This study i s conducted to eva luate the effect of ozone thera py in treati ng toxoplasmosi s i n cases with recurrent a bort ion. Thi rty toxopl asmat ic patients were participated i n this stud y. Patients were assi gned randomly in to two groups (15 patients each). Grou p (A) stud y group received ozone treatment through rectal insufflation with 250-300 ml of medical ozone gas and i n a concentration ranging between 20-40 11g/ml 03 in 02• six sessions per week for
4 weeks. Grou p (B) control group recei ved treatment in the form of

Spiramycin 3 MI U tablets twice per day for 4 weeks. Eva luat ions of all pat ients in both gro u ps was done through measuring immunoglobulin M (IgM) before and after the end of the treatment.
The resu lts of the present study showed a highly significan t decrease m IgM in the study grou p (A). Also, in control gro up (B) there was a significant decrease in lgM. Comparing between both groups (A & B) before treatment showed non si gnificant d ifference while after treatment there was a hi ghly si gn ifican t decrease in IgM in the study group (A) compared to control group (B). In ad d ition, the recovery rate was about 66.67 % in group (A), while i n grou p was about 26.67 %.
Accordingly, it can be concluded that medical ozone is an effective therapeutic moda lity for treat ing toxoplasmosis as well as, it is a safe modality
and has no harmf ul effects on the women.
