Mohammed Ahmed Hassan;

Abstract

Ectopic pregnancy is an issue that plagues women's health in the 20th century and will continue to be important in the new millennium.

Ectopic pregnancy rates are steadily increasing. The estimated incidence of ectopic pregnancy is 16 per I 000 reported pregnancies. Before the 19th century ectopic pregnancies were thought to be universally fatal, however, the overall mortality rate has since decreased dramatically from 72% to 90% in 1880 to 0.14% in 1990.
