CALCULATION OF INTRAOCULAR LENS POWER IN PROBLEMATIC CASES
Ahmed Abd El Moiz Mohamed;
Abstract
Biometry has traditionally been carried out by ultrasound A-scan for measuring the axial length of the eye.
Partial coherence interferometry (PCI) is a new non-mvas1ve method for measunng the axial length. Precision of the (PC!) was estimated to be ten times more accurate than the (US). As axial length measurement is the major know source of error in (IOL) implant power calculation, (0.1 mm axial length error approximately leads to 0.25 D final refraction error). The following should be done:
I. Both eyes' axial length should be measured
2. Axial length difference between the two eyes should be within
0.3mm.
3. All measurement must be within 0.2 mm in the same eye.
4. Recheck measurement if the axial length is< 22 nun or> 25 mm.
