EVALUATION OF INTRAOPERATIVE AND POSTOPERATIVE EFFECT OF GALLIUM ALUMINUM ARSENIDE LASER ON PERIODONTAL WOUND. HEALING AFTER SURGICALFLAP PROCEDURES

Soheir El-Sayed Mohamed El-Kholey;

Abstract

Periodontal wound healing is a complex but a systematic process involving coordination of cellular and extracellular events involving epithelium, connective tissue of the gingiva, periodontal ligament, cementum and bone. The tooth represent a transgingival positioned a
vascular and rigid wound margin.

Periodontal healing is described in terms such as new attachment, connective tissue repair or collagen adhesion. The substantial tissue loss may be accomplished by collagenous scar tissue that doesn't fully restore form and function of lost structure.

The present study was conducted to evaluate periodontal wound healing after open debridment using the modified Widman flap (MWF) in addition to (Ga-Al-As) laser irradiation either intra or post operative versus conventional surgery only.

To verify the sequlae of healing, rabbits were used as an animal model in order to evaluate fibrous connective tissue repair, epithelium migration, bone and cementum formation.

Periodontal defects in 36 New Zealand rabbits were experimentally induced on the lower anterior teeth. All tested sites evaluated by probing depth presurgery ,and treated as follow
